The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry [AACAP] is a professional medical organization comprised of child and adolescent psychiatrists trained to promote healthy development and to evaluate, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents and their families who are affected by disorders of feeling, thinking and behavior.

Child and adolescent psychiatrists are uniquely qualified to integrate knowledge about human behavior and development from biological, psychological, familial, social, and cultural perspectives with scientific, humanistic, and collaborative approaches to diagnosis, treatment and the promotion of mental health.

The goal of the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists [AACP] is the advancement of clinical psychiatry by:

  • Dealing with scientific materials useful in clinical practice and making this material available to clinicians at an Annual Meeting and through publications
  • Developing the membership of clinical psychiatrists who will work together to enhance the future of the private practice of psychiatry
  • Providing a liaison with other clinical professional organizations to promote cooperation and an understanding of common interests
  • Guiding and supporting research in areas valuable to clinical psychiatrists
  • Providing a forum for discussion among practicing clinical psychiatrists
  • Providing a continuing medical education in clinical psychiatry
  • Strengthening the image of psychiatry
  • Collecting and organizing the vast amount of data available from clinical practice for publication and distribution

AACP publishes the Annals of Clinical Psychiatry and The Clinical Psychiatry Quarterly.

The American Academy of Counseling Psychology [AACoP] (formerly the Academy of Counseling Psychology)is the association of psychologists who are Board Certified in Counseling Psychology by the American Board of Counseling Psychology [ABCoP] of the American Board of Professional Psychology [ABPP].

The mission of AACoP is to serve the needs of its members and Fellows and to promote the highest standards of professional practice and conduct within the specialization of Counseling Psychology for the protection and well-being of the public, the profession, and the Academy.

ACoP is the association of psychologists who identify themselves through their education, training, and experience as counseling psychologists. It is composed of Fellows of the Academy who are Diplomates in Counseling Psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology [ABPP], members of the Academy who belong to Division 17 of the American Psychological Association and/or are licensed psychologists practicing counseling psychology, and student members who are in formal training programs to develop the skills of the counseling psychologist.
