The American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training [AADPRT] is a national organization of approximately 425 psychiatrists dedicated to maximizing the psychiatric care available to the 25% of all people who are afflicted with mental disorders, and their families. It strives to achieve this goal by promoting the highest standards possible in psychiatric residency education. The AADPRT's membership includes general and child and adolescent psychiatry residency training directors, assistant and associate training directors, psychiatric subspecialty training directors (Geriatric psychiatry, Addiction psychiatry, and Forensic psychiatry), chairpersons and division chiefs and educators in psychiatric training.

The American Association for Emergency Psychiatry [AAEP] is a multidisciplinary organization that serves as the voice of emergency mental health. The membership includes many directors of psychiatric emer-gency services in academic medical centers around the country. The AAEP sponsors educational forums, practice and research surveys and provides a network of experts to address clinical, educational, administrative and legal problems. It publishes a quarterly journal, Emergency Psychiatry.

The American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry [AAGP] is a national association representing and serving its members and the field of geriatric psychiatry.   It is dedicated to promoting the mental health and well being of older people and improving the care of those with late life mental disorders.  AAGP enhances the knowledge base and standards of practice in geriatric psychiatry through education and research, and by advocating for the mental health needs of older Americans.

The official publication of AAGP is the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry.

The American Association of Health Plans [AAHP] represents more than 1,000 HMOs, PPOs and other network-based plans. AAHP's member companies are dedicated to a philosophy of health care that puts the patient-first; together they care for close to 140 million Americans nationwide.

AAHP was created in 1996 by the merger of the Group Health Association of America and the American Managed Care and Review Association.

The American Association for the History of Nursing [AAHN] is a professional organization open to everyone interested in the history of nursing. Originally founded in 1978 as a historical methodology group, the association was briefly named the International History of Nursing Society.

The association's purpose is to foster the importance of history in understanding the present and guiding the future of nursing. This is accomplished by:

• Educating the public and the profession about nursing's history and heritage
• Supporting national and international collaboration in promoting the history of nursing
• Encouraging research and recognizing outstanding scholarly achievement in nursing research
• Promoting the development of centers for the collection, preservation and use of materials important to nursing history
• Serving as a resource for information about nursing history
• Producing and distributing educational materials
