The Japanese Association for Transpersonal Psychology/Psychiatry [JATP], founded in 1998, is an academic organization that promotes:

  • Psychological and psychiatric studies in human growth and potentiality
  • Studies of altered or nonordinary states of consciousness
  • Integration of Western psychology and Eastern or shamanistic spiritual disciplines
  • Inter- or transdisciplinary discussion in transpersonal studies
  • A new worldview that encompasses transpersonal experiences and spiritual potentialities of humanity

Objectives:

  • Hold annual conferences and symposia
  • Publish academic journals and newsletters
  • Establish cooperative relations with related organizations of Japan and abroad
  • Do other projects to promote transpersonal studies in Japan

The official publication of JATP is the Japanese Journal of Transpersonal Psychology/ Psychiatry.
