The Third Sector Project seeks to help equip a cadre of personnel in countries around the world with the skills they need to organize and manage nonprofit organizations and to understand the role these organizations can play in local and national life.

Join Together was founded in 1991 as a project of the Boston University School of Public Health. It is a national resource for communities working to reduce substance abuse and gun violence.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations [JCAHO], founded in 1951, is an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets quality and safety of care standards and evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.

The Joint Center on Violence and Victim Studies [JCVVS], formed in 2001, is an interdisciplinary partnership between California State University at Fresno, University of New Haven, and Washburn University. JCVVS addresses issues of violence and victimization through service to professionals, higher education, and research and special projects thereby enhancing professional practice, organizational policies and societal responses.

The Joint Commission on International Aspects of Mental Retardation [JCIAMR] represents, with relation to the World Health Organization, the International League of Societies for Persons with Mental Handicap and the International Association for the Scientific Study of Mental Deficiency, which founded JCIAMR in 1967.

Objectives:

• Advance the interest of the mentally handicapped, without regard to nationality, race or creed, by securing on their behalf from all possible sources, the provision of remedial, residential, educational training, employment and welfare services
• Create internationally a common bond of understanding among parents and families of the retarded and others affected by the problem of mental handicap
• Promote the interest of the mentally handicapped and their families by bringing about cooperation among organizations representing national endeavour on their behalf
• Promote the scientific study of mental deficiency via a multidisciplinary approach throughout the world

AHIMA, AMIA, CHIM, CHIME and HIMSS joined together to form the Joint Healthcare Information Technology Alliance [JHITA] with the intent of pursuing a wide variety of objectives related to the common good of the Alliance membership. Two areas of focus for the Alliance are:

• To provide appropriate advocacy for legislation/regulation promoting the effective use of technology and its management, telecommunications, and business process re-engineering
• To be a dynamic force in our industry by developing jointly sponsored offerings including educational programs, market focus groups, research, services and activities relating to information technology and management, telecommunications, and business process re-engineering
