Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. The Psychoanalytic Center of California [PCC]. was registered as a Nonprofit Organization in 1984. It is a Component Member of the International Psycho-Analytic Association.

The special interest of the PCC is to explore treatment modalities that reach beyond the realm of classical neuroses. Research into primitive mental states, including narcissistic, borderline, autistic and psychotic states, is an important addition to our understanding of the mind and to the development of more complete treatment of serious mental disorders.

The orientation includes an appreciation of the works of Melainie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Ronald Fairbairn, Donald Winnicott and those more contemporary analysts who have expanded their ideas. Never the less, all points of view are represented, welcomed and encouraged.

In 2001, The Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute and Society (founded in 1937) joined with The Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis to form The Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia [PCOP]. A nonprofit organization, PCOP exists for the purpose of educating qualified individuals to become competent to conduct psychoanalyses, further the knowledge of human behavior and pass that knowledge on to future generations of students of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. The Center’s programs include both adult and child Psychoanalytic training programs taught from a contemporary perspective, both adult and child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training programs, a Fellowship program offering one- and two-year fellowships to both clinical and non-clinical applicants, and Continuing Education Programs which provide a variety of opportunities for mental health clinicians to maintain and improve their clinical awareness and skills.
