Joanne Verbanic started the first US Schizophrenics Anonymous group in Michigan in 1985. There are now over seventy such groups spread across North and South America offering fellowship, support and information. Focus is on recovery, using a 6-step program. The groups have weekly meetings, guest speakers, phone networks, and often a newsletter. |
