The New Jersey Medical School [NJMS] is the oldest school of medicine in the constellation of 8 schools making up the New Jersey Health Sciences University. The School was founded in 1954 as Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, pre-dating the establishment of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey [UMDNJ] by some 16 years.

The Violence Institute of New Jersey [VINJ] was established in 1997 as a multi-pronged organizational resource to assist New Jersey in addressing the unacceptably high rates of violence statewide. The Institute helps to coordinate over 45 violence-related initiatives at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey [UMDNJ], including clinical, service, and basic and applied research projects. In addition the Institute pursues its own research, service, educational, and advocacy projects.

The Elizabeth M Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, opened in 1983, is part of a USA national network of University Affiliated Programs [UAPs], the American Association of University Affiliated Programs, sponsored by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, Administration for Children and Families, US Department of Health and Human Services.

The Purpose of UAPs, as outlined in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, is to provide a leadership role in the promotion of independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities and their families.UAPs provide the following activities, delivered in a culturally competent manner:

• Interdisciplinary education of students and fellows at the graduate, post graduate, and under graduate levels
• Community service activities, including community education and training, and technical assistance, for or with individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, professionals, paraprofessionals, students, and volunteers
• Dissemination of information, research, and educational materials

The Division of Addiction Psychiatry creates new research teams, publishes articles, presents at national conferences and grand rounds, serves on national review committees, and teaches trainees from various disciplines. Research interests related to addictions include tobacco, cocaine, alcohol, heroin, behavioral therapy, development, psychopharmacology, neuropsychology, and genetics as well as improving treatments for schizophrenia and co-occurring addiction, cocaine addiction, alcohol dependence, and tobacco dependence.

The CARES Institute (Child Abuse Research, Education and Service) is a joint program of the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Institute is the only dedicated diagnostic and treatment for children suspected of maltreatment serving the seven southern counties of New Jersey.

The CARES Institute is one of just two sites in America chosen by the United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF] and the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect[(ISPCAN] as model programs that feature innovative approaches to helping children recover from abuse, neglect, and violence.

The Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health [ACPMH] was formerly known as the National Centre for War-related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder [NCPTSD]. ACPMH is a government-supported University centre for research, training and policy development.

ACPMH designs and conducts training on topics associated with post traumatic mental health.

The goal of the Research Center for Group Dynamics [RCGD] is to advance the understanding of human behavior in a societal context. Research currently under way within RCGD includes studies concerned with group decision making and social judgment; conformity and independence; violence and aggression, scholastic achievement, delinquency, and alternative schools; social relationships and social support within African American communities, the study of aging in a variety of social contexts, studies focusing on the effects of educational television, computers, and other novel technology in classrooms; stereotyping and social judgment, culture and cognition, cognitive anthropology; human mating strategies and conflict between the sexes, and studies on the mental representation of social categories with a focus on the development of notions of race in young children.

The University of Minnesota Office of Continuing Medical Education conducts over 100 activities each year for external audiences. It also sponsors 25 grand rounds series organized by departments at the Medical School and the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, a major affiliated hospital. Distance learning activities include monographs, journal supplements, audiocassettes, videocassettes, CD-ROMs, Internet-based activities, audio-teleconferences, videoconferences, and visiting faculty programs.

The Program in Human Sexuality [PHS] in the Department of Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School is committed to the promotion of sexual health through research, educational, clinical and community health programming.

In particular, PHS carrries out its mission to: conduct research that increases the body of knowledge regarding human sexuality; provide education in human sexuality in the Medical School, the University and the wider community; provide clinical services for sexual and relationship problems; and promote the sexual health of the community through community health initiatives.

The College of Continuing Education [CCE] is an arm of the University of Minnesota. It was established in 1913, and until 1995 was called Continuing Education and Extension, then University College.

The purpose of the College has always been to reach out beyond the borders of the campus to create access to the resources of the University for adult and non-traditional students--statewide, nationwide, and even worldwide.

The Missouri Institute of Mental Health [MIMH] was founded in 1962, as the Missouri Institute of Psychiatry. MIMH has a long history of training and educating professionals and the public about mental illness. Originally established as the research and training arm of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), in 1974 the Missouri Legislature transferred the Institute to the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU). Although the Institute reports to the Dean of the School of Medicine at MU, it retains strong ties to the DMH. All MIMH faculty hold appointments in the University's Department of Psychiatry & Neurology.
