The World Association of Cultural Psychiatry [WACP] is an independently incorporated, non-profit, international scientific and educational organization whose purpose is to bring together psychiatrists, psychologists, anthropologists, sociologists, epidemiologists, and others, whose main focus and interests are related to cultural psychiatry, with clinicians and policy personnel, whose main focus is increasing the availability and effectiveness of clinical services for diverse peoples and populations throughout the world.

Objectives:

• Promote the exchange of scientific information and the progress of international clinical and research activity in the field of cultural psychiatry
• Encourage the development of cultural psychiatric activities and organizations within nations and larger regions throughout the world
• Assist in the coordination of working relations between national, regional and international organizations in the field of cultural psychiatry
• Periodically organize international scientific meetings with a primary focus on research and clinical practice related to cultural psychiatry

The World Association for Infant Mental Health [WAIMH] is an interdisciplinary and international association that:

• Promotes education, research, and study of the effects of mental development during infancy on later normal and psychopathological development
• Promotes research and study of the mental health of the parents, families, and other caregivers of infants
• Promotes the development of scientifically based programs of care, intervention, and prevention of mental impairment in infancy

Since its inception in 1986, the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation [WAPR] has, as its goals, the promotion of national and international programmes and policies to meet the special needs of the mentally ill in the area of psychosocial rehabilitation and serve as a medium of exchange of information and experiences in this field. It has organised both conferences and national and regional workshops to meet these objectives. The primary aim of the WAPR is to provide to all stakeholders a forum for the ongoing discussion of the relevant issues concerning the long-term mental health care. The WAPR has official NGO consultative status with the United Nations, World Health Organisation [WHO] and the United Nations Economic and Social Council [UNESCO] and has been admitted to the International Labour Office [ILO] special list of NGOs. It also has relations with the European Commission and African Rehabilitation Institute and is a member of the Standing Committee of Presidents of lnternational NGOs concerned with mental health issues.

The World Association for Sexual Health [WAS] (formerly the World Association for Sexology) was founded in 1978. With approximately 100 member organizations and numerous individual memberships, representing over 30 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America and Australia, the WAS brings individuals and organizations together to share scientific information, form networks, and promote international and intercultural exchange.

The World Association for Social Psychiatry [WASP) was founded in 1964.

Objectives:

• Study the nature of man and his cultures and the prevention and treatment of his vicissitudes and behavioral disorders
• Promote national and international collaboration among professionals and societies in fields related to Social Psychiatry
• Make the knowledge and practice of Social Psychiatry available to other sciences and to the public

The World Autism Organisation [WAO] was founded in 1998 to help making better the quality of life of autistic people and that of their families throughout the world.

Objectives:

• Actions for information and sensibilisations of national public instances as well as international organisations such as UNESCO, WHO, United Nations, etc
• Sensibilisation of parents and of autistic people to participating at representtative associations in their countries or to the formation of such associations, when they do not exist yet
• Sensibilisation of professionnals in the sectors of health and education to the specificity of the needs of autistic people. Foster interest for working with autistic people
• Actions for initial and continued professionnal education and training in countries which mostly need it
• Sharing information on a world-wide basis in order to enrich our knowledge through mutual experiences
